The Garland Scottish Rite Club was chartered in 1956 and awarded its first scholarship to a deserving and outstanding high school senior of GISD in the fall of 1960.
The first scholarship was in the amount of $125.00 and was funded by “passing the hat” at our meetings. Our scholarships have been funded from various fund raisers including a Spring and Fall fish fry, which was held at one of the local high schools.
Garland Scottish Rite Club has continually given out scholarships supporting the students of the GISD for the past 60 years and are presently awarding a total of seven $1,000 scholarships, one to each of the GISD high schools. To date, the Garland Scottish Rite Club has awarded $211,850 in scholarships to 288 students in Garland ISD.
